2. Self Taught Tutorial
The Tutorial that I followed was from Tutorialized.com, This tutorial demonstrates how to model and texture a retro style analog joystick. On first glance this appeared to be a challanging tutorial but in the end it was very simple even though being quite poorly wirtten. I don't know how useful this would prove to be in modelling spesifically for games as it was made of several different objects that were not fused togther.
though badly worded the tutorial only would have taken about an to complete, less if the tutorial had been a little more discriptive. It basically entailed creating different primitive shapes and editing there properties such as height, width and curve, then using the material editor to create the different textures to break up the shapes and make it look like an actual joystick. admittably this was easy and not much was gained in my knowledge of 3D modelling but I did get a much better grasp on 3D studio max's user interface and primitive shapes, which is exactly what I was hoping to achieve.
In terms of techniques learned, I would say that counter to what I have learned in labs this tutorial used different objects in order to create the joystick, this did have an overall easy effect when modelling but would prove utterly useless when applied to single object low poly modeling that is used in games.

7. 1. Copyright: Critical Reflection
- Fair dealing is the use of copy righted material for educational purpose, IE essays, assignments and research. not commercial use.
- you must cite the copyright owner if the work is submitted for critique or review.
- In the Particular case; using a copyrighted advertisement in a game world could be a positive for the copyright owner in the sense that it is now providing free advertisement in a space where there is no charge on length of stay. but it is the copyright owners right to distribute their product or advertisments in an enviroment they approve at times they choose.
